| Cal Hedden circa 1971 |
|
- Cal Hedden ~ circa 1971 ~ cuemaker from Pekin, IL
- Titlist conversion with more work into it than any other Titlist conversion I've ever seen
- cue was made for his daughter Linda aka "Punky Punk", she was aspiring to become a pro player
- interesting double threaded joint, 5/16" x 18 brass joint screw plus stainless steel shaft collar is male threaded and the inside of the stainless steel butt joint collar is female threaded
- shaft has 9" curly maple bottom end with 40 inlays attached to straight grain maple front. The shaft is 12.25mm at the ferrule and remains so for 15"
- rosewood handle is checkered like a gun stock with veneers and interesting marquetry work spiraling 180* around
- the forearm is gun drilled 3", there is a 3" tenon on the handle with a 5/16" screw to attach it to the forearm
- this has to be one of the first examples of coring a cue
- cue in my personal collection
$0 ~ Q2205 |
| Cal Hedden circa 1971 |
|
- quality and ingenuity and execution with attention to detail is over the top
- all this and consider it was done 38 years ago, a ton of time was put into this cue
- the checkering is perfect, a good gunsmith would be proud of this work
- Cal was certainly influenced by the top cuemakers of the day
- he owned 'Cue Paradise' a pool hall in Pekin, IL from 1967 to 1972 and put on 14.1 tournaments so he was sure to see all of the great cues, there was a time when pool players played with great cues
- he was also influenced by cuemakers of the 19th century, the veneer work and marquetry is certainly 'old school'

Samsara
break/jump 2008 |
|
- Samsara has introduced a new line of break / jump cues to rival anything out there and is made in the USA.
- The cue features a proprietary layered leather tip made by Samsara that is extremely hard (rivaling the hardness of phenolic), allows for english to be applied to the cue ball, is legal in any sanctioning body and will not harm the cue ball.
- The shaft features a proprietary taper, black linen based phenolic ferrule and the new Samsara break / jump tip.
- Uni-loc joints in both places for ease of use and with a standard Samsara playing shaft can be used as your regular playing cue, break the rack and change shafts in a couple of seconds and run the rack, all with the same cue.
- The cue is available in ebonized straight grain maple or stained curly maple with bocote decor rings and joint collar, either wrapped in leather or wrapless and includes custom wooden joint protectors.
- The quality, fit and finish is second to none.
